Most airports around the world had them installed as soon as flights were able to resume, and now they’ve finally made their timid presences known at Terminal 4 of JFK airport in New York City. Thermoscanners reached JFK late because the Federal Transportation Department de- clined to institute its own fever- testing program, as part of the federal government’s quest to downplay the COVID-19 threat. Thermoscanners at JFK air- port have infrared cameras that, from afar, monitor passengers’ body temps while they walk in a corridor about four meters wide.
