6 World June/July 2018 V I D E O A G E After its recent co-produc- tions, including Heidi, Bienve- nida (with Argentina’s Alianzas Producciones), Mondo TV has continued to pursue partner- ship opportunities for its new shows. Invention Story is a co- production between China’s Henan York Animation and Mondo TV, and YooHoo to the Rescue is one between South Korea’s Aurora World Corpora- tion and Mondo TV Suisse. Mondo TV is also embracing new platforms. For example, YooHoo to the Rescue will appear as a Netflix Original Series for most territories in 2019. Part of Mondo TV’s roll-out strategy for its properties inclu- des developing a lasting licen- sing program. “For animated children’s entertainment an essential aim of a successful li- censing program is to have toy distributors opening the mar- ket and placing products on the shelf,” Venturi remarked. YooHoo to the Rescue is actually based on a plush toy line from Aurora World. Meanwhile, Mondo TV is assuming such strong licensing potential for Invention Story that it has alre- ady committed to five seasons with Henan York. “We don’t aim for ‘good enough,’” concluded Venturi. “We aim for better and best across all facets of a show’s development and branding.” Famous Quotes “Web TV stations don’t need transmitters and licenses. Radio and TV like they’re known to- day will disappear in a 10-year period. Internet technology will change everything: the way content is received and it is consumed.” From TV Via Internet by Dom Serafini, February 1999.
